Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Mahashivratri, the festival of devotion to Shiva, is being celebrated with devotion in Uttarakhand today. Rudrabhishek and special offerings were made in temples across the city including the historical Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, Shri Prithvinath Mahadev Temple, Jangam Shivalay located in Garhi Cantt of Dehradun. After this the doors were opened for the devotees. Where the devotees standing in line performed Jalabhishek and wished for prosperity.
Rudrabhishek of Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev took place at midnight in the presence of Mahant Shri 108 Krishnagiri Maharaj and Digambar Bharat Giri in Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. After this, Abhishekam was done with 5100 liters of milk. Special offering of fruits and sweets was made. The doors of the temple were opened for the devotees to have darshan and Jalabhishek.

To ensure that the devotees do not face any kind of trouble in Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple and to create a peaceful system, 400 sevadars of Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple Seva Dal will cooperate at every place from the temple to the main gate. Seva Dal's publicity minister Vinay Verma said that in view of the crowd, there will be a separate queue for the elderly and women. To ensure clear passage to one side and to the other side, a temporary divider has been made in the middle of the temple gate. The temple has been decorated with eight quintals of marigold and rose flowers brought from Delhi. Apart from this, cleanliness campaign was also conducted in the campus.
Shiv procession taken out in Premnagar, tableaux enthralled people
Dehradun: On the occasion of Shivratri, under the aegis of Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir Yuva Mandal located in Premnagar, havan was performed by offering prayers in the temple. Shiva procession took place in the area in the afternoon. Various tableaux along with the band and music enthralled the mind. In the Shiva procession, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Shiva and Parvati sitting on Nandi Maharaj were the center of attraction. Devotees danced to the tune of the band. Shiv procession reached Prem Nagar Chowk via Prem Nagar main market. Where welcomed with shower of flowers. On this occasion, temple committee chief Subhash Makin, Rajesh Bhatia, Ravi Bhatia, Avtar Krishna Kaul, Puneet Sehgal, Balwinder Maini etc. were present.
Rangoli with 2100 lamps in Prithvinath Mahadev Temple
Rangoli of 2100 lamps was the center of attraction for the devotees in Shri Prithvinath Mahadev Temple located at Saharanpur Chowk. In which devotees had darshan of Bholenath. Digambar Bhagwat Puri, Digambar Dinesh Puri, Sevadar Sanjay Garg of the temple told that everyone from common to special will remain in a line for darshan and Jalabhishek. Today, Ganga water brought from Haridwar will be given to the devotees for Abhishek. There will be a special Bhasma Aarti at night. On this occasion, Rajendra Anand, Naveen Gupta, Vicky Goyal, Rohit Aggarwal, former Chairman of Other Backward Classes Commission Ashok Verma, Sushil Gupta etc. were present.
Mahashivratri fair will be held here
On Mahashivratri, a 15-day fair will start from today in the premises of Shri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple located in Garhi Cantt. Apart from this, a fair will also be organized at Shiv Mandir Raipur Road, Lachhiwala. For this, shops have been fully decorated, swings for children, various food stalls besides daily items have been set up.
