Major General Sumit Mehta Will Receive Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, President Approves

Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. Major General Sumit Mehta, resident of Aryapuri of the city, will be awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. President Draupadi Murmu has approved the presentation of the award on the eve of the 77th Republic Day.

Let us tell you that Mehta has also been the second commanding officer in the Republic Day parade of 2024 and 2025. Major General Sumit Mehta, VSM was commissioned into 44 Armed Regiment in June 1992.

He is an alumnus of De Nobili School, Dhanbad, St. Michael's School, Patna, National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

His parents JL Mehta and Kumud Mehta live in Ranchi. The father expressed happiness and said that it is a matter of honor for us. It is a matter of pride for Ranchi. The Major General has served in operations in Jammu and Kashmir, Siachen Glacier, the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Ladakh.

Have also worked in Thar Desert and plains of Punjab. Among other appointments he has been Assistant De Camp (ADC) to the Chief of the Army Staff, Battalion Commander at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and on the staff of Mechanized Forces Directorate and Military Secretary Branch at Army Headquarters.

Has worked with the United Nations on the Golan Heights in Syria and Israel. He is a graduate of the Tech Staff Officer Course, Higher Air Command and National Defense College, Nairobi, Kenya. He has a master's degree in International Relations and Peace Studies.

He has received praise from army commanders and the Chief of Army Staff. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2010 for distinguished service by the President of India. Wife Sweta Mehta is interested in fine arts. Have two children. Daughter Radhika is a data analytics professional and son Shivesh is pursuing a masters in geopolitics and international relations.
