According to religious beliefs, bathing and charity have special significance on the day of Makar Sankranti. Devotees will reach Yamuna ghats from early morning to take a dip of faith in Yamuna river. Food, clothes and money will be donated for charitable purposes. Special worship and Havan-Yagya will also be organized at various temples and religious places in the city. Due to its special importance, purchases of sesame, jaggery, khichdi, peanuts, rewari, clothes and utensils continued till a day before.

Kite festival today at Yamuna Aarti site

A special kite festival will be organized at the Yamuna Aarti site located on the banks of Yamuna on Wednesday. According to the organizing committee, the kite festival will start at 1 pm and continue till evening. Attractive and traditional kites will be displayed in it. The festival will also be celebrated as a festival through cultural programs and mass kite flying. Devotees will be present during the evening Aarti at Yamuna Aarti site.
