First reduce the increased scope of BSF, then center will give land for fencing: CM Mamata

State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata. During the discussion on the Governor's address in the Bengal Assembly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee opened a front against the Central Government and the Border Security Force (BSF).

The Chief Minister clarified that giving land for fencing on the international border is not an issue, the policies of the Center remain an obstacle. Mamta described the decision of the Central Government as arbitrary, under which the jurisdiction of BSF in the border areas has been increased from 15 kilometers to 50 kilometers.

He laid down the condition that the Center would first have to withdraw this expanded scope. The Center should respect the federal structure. The democratic rights of common people cannot be hindered in the name of security.

Rejecting BJP's allegations of non-cooperation, Mamata said the state government has already provided sufficient land to central agencies like Railways, Defense and SAIL.

Taking a jibe, he said that the Center should complete the work on the land that has already been given and then demand more land. Referring to the upcoming 2026 assembly elections, the Chief Minister said that BJP was zero in Bengal and will remain zero.
