Police arrested members of fake marriage gang. Awakening

One lakh 32 thousand cash, gold jewelery and mobile phones were recovered from them. ASP Atulesh Jha gave this information in a press conference at Dehri Nagar police station.

Used to target older people

He said that on January 2, information was received that about Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand, a mangalsutra, toe ring, anklets, nose ring and saree had been cheated by getting a man from outside the state married in a fake manner.

Three women and two men did this and ran away. After this, a special police team was formed which included Police Station Head Dehri Nagar Shivendra Kumar and DIU team.

He told that the formed team took immediate action and arrested Jaya Kumari Patel from Gori village of Karghar police station. On her trail, Karakat Ragini alias Jhuni Devi was arrested.

When interrogated, he gave information about the gang. Told that apart from those two, the gang also includes Dharamsheela Devi, Abhishek Patel and Shravan Kumar.

SP said that these people target men from outside the state, who are older and are not married, on the pretext of marriage.

By the way, these people get the men to marry Jaya Kumari Patel, a girl of their gang, in a fake manner and take huge amount of money from her in the name of marriage and run away from there after the marriage.

He told that on the behest of Ragini Devi alias Jhuni Devi, other accused of this gang, Dharamsheela Devi, resident of Ayerkotha, Abhishek Patel, resident of Gori village and Shravan Kumar, resident of Anicut of Dehri Nagar police station, were arrested.

Anklets, toe rings, mangalsutra, gold nose ring, Rs 1,32,850 and two mobile phones were recovered from them. The raid team included SI Chandrahas Kumar, Alka Soni and others.

Two youths from Rajasthan were cheated in the name of marriage

During a week in Dehri sub-division area, two youths from Rajasthan became victims of fraud in the name of marriage. Manoj Soni, a resident of Purana Bapu Nagar of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, had lodged an FIR in Dehri Nagar police station.

The bride and her companions were accused of looting about Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand and jewellery. According to the FIR, Jaya Kumari Patel was married on January 2 in a temple located in Anicut.

Jaya had written her village address as Gori police station Chenari whereas Gori village is in Karghar police station. About one lakh 80 thousand rupees and jewelery were taken in exchange for the marriage. After the marriage, everyone ran away on the pretext of marriage.

Earlier, on December 30, Harchand Ram, a resident of Dhani in Jalore district of Rajasthan, had lodged an FIR in Nowhatta police station for robbing the bride and her associates of around Rs 3 lakh by committing fraud in the name of marriage.
