Understand Jharkhand's 'Abu Dishom' Budget 2026-27 In Two Minutes: Read In 11 Points What Is The Plan For Every Sector

Big investment in education, health, agriculture and employment in the budget.

Digital Desk, Ranchi. Jharkhand government presented 'Abu Dishom' budget of Rs 1,58,560 crore for the financial year 2026-27. This is about 9% more than last year's budget. There is a special focus in the budget on the empowerment of the poor, farmers, women, youth, tribals and deprived sections. Social sector, education, health, agriculture and rural development have been given priority.

1. Total size and name of the budget

Jharkhand presented 'Abu Dishom' budget of Rs 1,58,560 crore for the financial year 2026-27. This is about 9% more than last year's Rs 1.45 lakh crore. The main objective of the budget is inclusive growth and delivery to the last person.

2. Focus on social sector

Total allocation for social sector is Rs 67,460 crore. This includes Rs 22,995 crore for the development of women and children. The budget is dedicated to the empowerment of the poor, labourers, tribals and Dalits.

3. Major schemes for women empowerment

Under the 'Mayiya Samman Yojana', women are being given Rs 2,500 monthly, for which a provision of more than Rs 14,065 crore is made. 'Women's Happiness Scheme' launched, for which Rs 25 crore allocated. Women farmers will be linked to integrated farming.

4. Strength in pension schemes

Provision of Rs 3,517 crore for Chief Minister Sarvajan Pension Scheme. Over Rs 1,463 crore allocated for Indira Gandhi National Disability, Widow and Crippled Pension Schemes.

5. Support of farmers and agriculture sector

Provision of more than Rs 4,884 crore for the Agriculture Department. The budget of Birsa Seed Scheme was increased. Apart from 'Mahila Kisan Khushhali Yojana', focus on cash crops and millet mission. Rs 162 crore for manufacturing lamps and packs in every assembly.

6. Big investment in education sector

Allocation of Rs 16,251 crore for education. 100 new Chief Minister Schools of Excellence will be opened. 5 Jharkhand Girls Residential Schools (2 in Dhanbad, 1 each in Palamu-Latehar-Garhwa) will be built. Establishment of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University.

7. Strengthening health services

Provision of Rs 7,990 crore for the health department. CT scan machines will be installed in all medical colleges and breast mammography machines in 24 sadar hospitals. Emphasis on schemes like Abuya Dawakhana.

8. Rural development and infrastructure

Rs 12,347 crore for rural development. Rs 5,081 crore for Rural Affairs Department. Increased investment on water resources and Panchayati Raj. Focus on rural roads, bridges and livelihood generation.

9. Shortfall claim from the center

The budget mentions a shortfall of about Rs 16,000 crore from the central government. This includes Rs 4,000 crore related to GST compensation. Target to limit fiscal deficit to 2.3% of GSDP.

10. Emphasis on youth, employment and infrastructure

Focus on employment generation, startups and skill development for youth. Increased investment in roads, irrigation, power and energy sectors. Aim to reduce the rural-urban divide.

11. Political reactions and overall approach

Chief Minister Hemant Soren described it as inclusive and people-friendly. The opposition, including Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, termed some parts as disappointing. Outcome, gender and child budgets were also introduced in the budget, which increases transparency.
