Administration took major action on child marriage.

Digital Desk, New Delhi. The administration took major action on child marriage in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh. After the marriage of a 16-year-old minor girl, the administration surrounded the wedding procession and stopped them on the way and brought everyone to the police station and took legal action.

An FIR was lodged against 25 people who cooperated in this marriage. In which, apart from the relatives of the bride and groom, the confectioner who prepares the food at the wedding, the tent operator and the DJ owner are included. An FIR has been lodged against these people under the sections of Child Marriage Prohibition Act-2006.

District Program Officer Arvind Upadhyay said that after checking the documents, the age of the girl was found to be 16 years and two months. He warned that any service provider should compulsorily check the age certificates (marksheet or birth certificate) of the bride and groom before booking the wedding. If any minor is found in any marriage, legal action will be taken against the service providers also.
