Sexual abuse of live-in partner. (symbolic)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. Police in Bengaluru's Bagalkunte have arrested a 29-year-old man for alleged fraud, sexual exploitation and theft. It is alleged that he cheated a woman of Rs 20 lakh and about 200 grams of gold on the pretext of live-in-relation.
Police said Shubham Shukla first befriended a minor girl and allegedly sexually assaulted her, then used her to gain access to her family. He later targeted her elder sister and lured her into a live-in relationship.
The accused turned out to be already married
The accused convinced the victim to lie to her parents by saying that she was going to Mumbai for work. Instead, the couple stayed in Bengaluru for three years. During this, he allegedly grabbed money and valuables. Later the victim came to know that Shubham Shukla was already married. When asked he promised to divorce his wife but she continued to harass him on a daily basis.
The victim lodged a complaint with the police
Unable to bear the trouble, the woman finally ran away and then lodged a complaint. Police have registered a case under POCSO Act and fraud charges. The accused has been arrested, investigation into the case is ongoing.
