Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. A sudden fire broke out in a two-storey house in Chander Nagar located in Jagatpuri police station area of East Delhi. In this incident, two people present in the house became unconscious due to dense smoke. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it is believed that short circuit or gas leakage could be the reason.
As soon as the information was received, two fire engines of Delhi Fire Service immediately reached the spot. The fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control after a lot of effort. During this time there was an atmosphere of chaos in the surrounding area. Both the unconscious persons were immediately admitted to Dr. Hedgewar Ayurvedic Hospital as part of relief work, where their condition is said to be stable.
Police have started investigating the matter and the exact cause of the fire is being ascertained. The incident highlights the rising incidence of fires in Delhi, where excessive use of heaters and electrical appliances is becoming common in winter.
