Jagran correspondent, Aligarh. Maulana associated with Pakistani Dawat-e-Islami organization was invited to the program organized on Shab-e-Barat in Suleman Hall of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). When the students came to know about this, they started protesting on the internet media.
After this the university administration canceled the program. Even Maulana could not reach. This organization came into limelight after the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal by slitting his throat in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The event was to be held during Shab-e-Barat in the mosque of Suleman Hall of the University.
On the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, a Grand Shab-e-Barat was organized by the students at AMU's Suleman Hall Mosque from 9.15 pm on Tuesday night. In this, Sultan Attari, executive member of Islamic organization Dawat-e-Islami, was invited as a guest speaker. The organizers had made complete preparations for this. The stage was also decorated. When other students of the university came to know about this, they started protesting.
Both the accused in the murder of Kanhaiya Lal were found to be linked to it.
Students posted on the internet media that after the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal, Rajasthan's DGP and the National Investigation Agency had said that the investigation had found that both the accused who slit Kanhaiya Lal's throat were associated with Dawat-e-Islami. Even after this, such people are being called to the university. The university administration came into action after this. Proctor Prof. Mohammad Naved Khan said that the event has been postponed. Students have been told that such events will not be allowed.
