Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Investigation has been started in the case of assault on MBBS student in Doon Medical College. Showing seriousness, the college administration has handed over the matter to the Anti Ragging Committee.

The Anti Ragging Committee headed by Dr Ghazala Rizvi on Saturday called the victim as well as both the accused students and recorded their statements. The committee has heard in detail all the facts, circumstances and allegations related to the incident. Apart from this, if necessary, other students and related people can also be interrogated.

It is alleged that on January 12, a student of MBBS batch 2025 along with two senior students of batch 2024 and 2023 were beaten with belts and slippers. Along with this, pressure was also created on the student to forcibly get his hair cut.

The victim student had submitted a written complaint to the warden and the principal after the incident. In the complaint, the student has alleged physical and mental harassment.

Principal Dr. Geeta Jain said that the Anti Ragging Committee is conducting a fair and thorough investigation of all aspects of the case. At present the committee report has not been received. Whatever facts emerge in the investigation will be included in the report.

The Principal said that further action will be taken only on the basis of the report and recommendations of the committee. He made it clear that a policy of zero tolerance has been adopted towards incidents like ragging or violence. However, it is expected that a report or a concrete decision will be taken in this matter on Monday.
