Meerut Weather Update: Sunshine In The Afternoon And Melting Increased At Night, Chances Of Severe Cold On Christmas

Jagran correspondent, Meerut. The district has been in the grip of fog and cold for many days. There was fog till 12:30 pm on Monday. Visibility was less than 30 meters at 7 am. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Compared to the last three-four days, the sunshine was fine. The melting increased as the evening approached. After 10 pm, fog started appearing again on the city streets. An increase was recorded in the maximum temperature compared to Sunday. It was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius.

Pollution worsened the situation once again. Meerut was the fifth most polluted city in the state. Fog started clearing late on Sunday night. There was dense fog at 4-5 am on Monday. Even after the day broke, the fog did not clear up.

In Pallavapuram, the amount of PM 2.5 remained more than 325 micrograms from 8 pm on Sunday to 7 pm on Monday. AQI was recorded at 338 at 7 pm. People felt partial relief as the sun came out in the afternoon.

People were yearning for sunshine for the last three days. Dr. UP Shahi, in-charge of the weather center of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agricultural University, said that a weak western disturbance has passed through the Himalayan region. Cold northwest wind with moisture is blowing. The night temperature is expected to drop by three to four degrees on Christmas. At present there is no possibility of relief from fog.
