State Bureau, Kolkata. A nine-year-old minor boy, who sustained burn injuries when a drum filled with chemicals burst in the Bhangar area of ​​Bengal's South 24 Parganas district, died in a hospital here on Wednesday. The officers provided this information.

Officials said the deceased has been identified as Sadiqul Ahmed, a resident of Kharigachi village. He suffered severe burn injuries on February 17 after a drum filled with chemicals used in road repair work exploded. Police said that four children were playing on the roadside when the incident took place in Central Kharigachi village.

Accident due to chemical drum explosion in Bhangarh

Three children who were seriously injured during the incident were taken to the primary health centre, but when their condition deteriorated, they were admitted to MR Bangur Hospital here. Sadiqul, who sustained approximately 95 percent burn injuries, was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to hospital sources, the child died at around 5.55 am, while the condition of the other two injured children is said to be stable. The child's relatives had earlier alleged that a drum filled with about 200 liters of diesel was left unattended in a densely populated area for road construction work.
