More than 21 lakh public complaints were received this year, so many were resolved
PTI, New Delhi. The government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that so far this year, more than 21 lakh public complaints have been received against various government departments. Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply that between January and December 9, 21,17,346 public complaints were received, out of which 21,16,766 were resolved.
The minister said that 26,15,321 public complaints were received in 2024, while 19,53,057 public complaints were received in 2023 and 19,18,238 in 2022.
The Minister said that the Government has taken several measures under the Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System to reduce the pendency of public grievances and improve the efficiency of the redressal process.
On August 23, 2024, the government issued comprehensive guidelines for effective redressal of public complaints and reduced the time limit for redressal of complaints from 30 days to 21 days.
The minister said that as of December 9, the Ministry of Labor and Employment had the highest number of pending complaints at 11,832. After this, 6,569 complaints were pending in the Home Ministry, 5,346 in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (Income Tax) and 4,516 in the Department of Financial Services (Banking Department).
4,259 public complaints were pending with the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), 3,081 with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, 2,484 with the Unique Identification Authority of India and 2,215 with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
In a written reply to another question, Jitendra Singh said that the details of appointment letters issued to the candidates under employment fairs are maintained by the concerned ministries, departments, institutions. The National Employment Fair initiative was launched in October 2022.
So far, 17 job fairs have been organized at the national level in 40-50 cities of different states and union territories. Several lakhs of appointment letters have been issued by the ministries, departments, institutions participating in these job fairs.
The Minister said that the National Employment Fair is an important initiative towards the government's commitment to give top priority to employment generation among the youth.
