Digital Desk, New Delhi. After NEET exam, many students are ready to change their citizenship to get seats in college. Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has released the list of 811 candidates who have decided to become NRIs to crack the third round of counseling in 2025-26.

Actually, in the third round of counseling of MCC, NRI candidates are allotted seats in medical colleges. Its fees are also quite high. But despite this, many candidates have selected NRI quota to get a seat in NEET college.

There is less competition in NRI quota, due to which the cut-off is also much easier to manage. Candidates who have scored low marks in NEET exam have even decided to give up their Indian citizenship to get a seat under the NRI quota.

As per the MCC report, 811 candidates have selected the NRI quota. There are two categories in the NRI quota, first is for candidates who are NRIs themselves and second is for close relatives of NRIs. There are 113 candidates in the first category and 698 candidates in the second category.

What is the cut-off?

The cut-off for candidates taking admission in the first category of NRI quota is only 10 percent, that is, candidates scoring 82 marks out of 800 can get admission in this category. Whereas, the cut-off for candidates getting seats from second category is 28 (3.5%) marks.

It is undoubtedly easy to get admission in NEET college under NRI quota, but for this one has to pay huge fees in colleges. The fees for postgraduates in NRI quota ranges from Rs 45 lakh to Rs 95 lakh. It depends on the university and states.

At the same time, if many seats remain vacant in the NRI quota, then they are converted into management seats, the fees for which are substantially lower.
