Jagran correspondent, Jammu. Jammu Smart City in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation has started a two-day voting festival. Six motor boats were launched at Tawi on the first day of the launch on Wednesday. A large number of city residents came to witness this historical moment.
More than 100 people enjoyed the motor boat on the first day. This service was free. The festival will continue on Thursday also. After this, there is a plan to run regular motorboats here. Earlier, Jammu East MLA Yudhveer Sethi inaugurated it.
The construction of the second phase of 4.3 kilometer Tawi River Front is yet to be done, divided into two phases. The first phase was from Bhagwati Nagar bridge to the main bridge of Tawi river. This is also divided into two parts. In the first part, an artificial lake was to be created by damming the banks of the Taavi. After completing this, boats were launched in it. The second phase is a 4.3 km stretch from Tawi Bridge to Gujjar Nagar Bridge.
The lake will be seven kilometers long
Initially the length of the lake was kept at one and a half kilometers and width at 600 meters. Later its size was increased to seven kilometers. This lake is to be built from Gujjar Nagar to Bhagwati Nagar. At present work has been done in approximately 2.7 kilometer length.
