New Delhi. Adani Group on Tuesday announced that it will invest $100 billion (Rs 9.09 lakh crore) to build data centers for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India by 2035. These data centers will run on renewable energy. The company said in a statement that the purpose of this investment is to make India a leader in AI by building the necessary energy and computing platforms. Now after this, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on Thursday that his group will invest Rs 10 lakh crore in AI in seven years.
The best form of AI is yet to come!
At the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026', Ambani said that the best form of AI is yet to come and AI has the potential to bring an era of tremendous growth. He said that the world is at a crossroads regarding AI. While one path leads to scarce, expensive AI and controlled data, the other path offers cheap and accessible AI.
High cost of computing is a bigger challenge
Ambani said, “Jio, together with Reliance, will invest Rs 10 lakh crore in the next seven years from this year. This is not a speculative investment. This is not for price increase. This is capital being invested in patient, disciplined nation building. He said that the biggest hurdle in AI is not the lack of talent, but the high cost of computing.
What will Jio Intelligence do?
Ambani said that "Jio Intelligence will create India's sovereign computing infrastructure." This includes data centers with gigawatt capacity. Ambani said Jio connected India to the Internet era and now it will connect it to the Intelligence era. He said, “We will bring intelligence (AI) to every citizen, every sector and every aspect of social development. Jio will do all this with the same reliability, scale and affordability that revolutionized the contact sector (mobile data).”
