Municipal Corporation employees locking the room of the District Education Officer for not depositing property tax.
Digital Desk, Bhopal. The Municipal Corporation in Sagar city has adopted a strict stance and intensified action regarding the collection of property tax and water tax. Now the corporation has also started the action of lockout for not depositing the outstanding amount. In this sequence, on Tuesday, the Municipal Corporation team locked the Government Women Polytechnic College and the District Education Officer (DEO) office.
According to the Municipal Corporation, about Rs 9 lakh including property tax and water tax are outstanding on the Government Women Polytechnic College, while property tax of Rs 2 lakh 47 thousand is pending on the District Education Officer's office. Apart from this, property tax of Rs 64 thousand was collected from Balaji Enterprises located in Poddar Colony.
Focus on big defaulters in December
The Municipal Commissioner has instructed Revenue Officer Brijesh Tiwari to contact all the big defaulters in the month of December and deposit property tax, water tax, waste management fee and rent of shops compulsorily. Strict action like lockout will be taken against those who do not pay within the stipulated time.
During this action, Revenue Officer Brijesh Tiwari, encroachment co-in-charge Krishna Kumar Chaurasia, Raju Raikwar and all the tax collectors of the corporation were present.
In this regard, District Education Officer Arvind Jain said that correspondence has been sent to senior officials for depositing property tax. Tax will be deposited immediately as soon as the amount is received. At present, the office is locked due to outstanding taxes imposed by the corporation.
The Municipal Corporation says that there will be no laxity at any level in revenue collection and strict action will be taken against those who have outstanding dues.
