Jagran Correspondent, Haridwar: The Defense and Aerospace Department of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has completed the manufacturing of the 50th Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) naval gun.
On Friday, Executive Director Ranjan Kumar flagged off this naval gun and sent it to Mumbai. It will be deployed on the Indian Navy's warship INS Mahendragiri. He said that it will play a decisive role in the security of the country.
Executive Director Ranjan Kumar said in the program that this SRGM Naval Gun is an important step towards realizing the concept of self-reliant India in the defense sector.
He said that the manufacturing and supply of this naval gun is a matter of pride for every BHEL employee.
General Manager (DABG) Rajiv Chaurasia said that this naval gun can hit different types of targets in air, water and sea within a radius of 35 km. Also able to select different types of ammunition, depending on target conditions.
BHEL has been manufacturing SRGM naval guns for the Indian Navy for the last three decades. Till now a total of 49 guns have been supplied.
On this occasion, General Manager, representative of Indian Navy, other senior officials of BHEL, team of Defense and Aerospace Department and representatives of Union and Association etc. were present.
