केशव कुमार, मुजफ्फरपुर। A patient lost his life while waiting for operation in SKMCH for three months. Virendra Kumar Singh, admitted on bed number 21 in the ortho ward, died on Wednesday evening due to sudden deterioration in his health. After the death of Virendra Singh, angry relatives created a ruckus by accusing the SKMCH management of negligence in treatment.

According to the information, Virendra Kumar shivered due to cold on Wednesday evening. When his health started deteriorating, there was no nursing staff in the ward. Seeing the condition of Virendra Singh, the relatives of another patient admitted in the ward took him to the emergency ward for treatment. The emergency ward doctor asked for Virendra Singh's bed head ticket.

By the time the nursing staff searched for the bed head ticket, Virendra Singh died. Relatives of other admitted patients, angry over the death of Virendra Singh, said that the nursing staff is not there in regular mode in the afternoon and night. At night, after reaching duty, she inserts nursing needle and disappears. Have to call and bring for treatment.

Recruitment was done only three months ago

The relatives of the deceased told that Virendra Singh's leg was broken in a road accident three months ago. He was brought to SKMCH for treatment. After being treated by the doctor in the emergency, he was admitted to Dr. Arun Kumar's unit in ward number four. Every day the doctors were turning me away saying today or tomorrow. Due to being hospitalized for a long time, he started falling ill.

His health started deteriorating on Wednesday evening. There was not a single nursing staff in the ward. Seeing the condition of Virendra Singh, the relatives of the other patient admitted in the ward took him to the emergency ward for treatment. Meanwhile he died. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Satish Kumar Singh said that strict orders have already been given to other personnel including nursing staff not to leave the duty site. Cases of nursing staff missing from duty are often coming to light in ward number four. Clarification will be sought from the nursing staff regarding the matter. The hospital manager will investigate the nursing duty site and take strict action against the guilty nursing staff.

There was a case of instigating agitation for operation.

Rambachan Jha of Kharhar and other patients admitted in the orthopedic department are waiting for operation for one or two months, but instead of operation, the doctors are advising them to protest. On Tuesday, the relatives of the victim patients had complained to the Superintendent accusing the doctor Dr. Seraj that when they requested for the delay in the operation, the doctor said - protest, go on a fast. Get the person you voted for lobbying or ask the Collector, only then the operation will take place.

Patients' operations are being disrupted due to the hand-holding of the splier.

Most of the patients of Ortho department are admitted under Ayushman Yojana. Twelve of these patients have leg fractures. A total of 22 patients are admitted. Due to non-availability of rods, steel and other materials in the hospital, patients admitted under Ayushman Yojana face difficulty in getting operations done. If the admitted patients buy goods from outside then their operation is done.

Deputy Superintendent Dr. Satish Kumar Singh said that the agency has been restored for the supply of these goods. Its local rate is fixed, but due to low rate the agency has given up. After this the supply has been stopped. However, two days ago, the Superintendent along with the doctors of the department including the HOD held a meeting with the supplier association. After this the supply has been agreed upon. If the goods are not supplied soon, the tender will be canceled and the materials will be purchased under the purchasing committee.
