Jagran correspondent, Siwan. The negligence of private schools has raised a question mark on the government's intention to enroll poor, deprived and needy children in private schools under the Right to Education Act.

More than three weeks have passed since the enrollment process for the session 2026-27 started, but 213 private schools of the district have still not been able to enter the official information about their intake capacity i.e. total seats and resources on the Gyandeep portal.

Due to non-uploading of intake capacity, neither the parents are able to choose the right school nor the enrollment system is progressing. Let us tell you that under the RTE Act, every private school has to reserve 25 percent of its total seats for children from economically weaker and deprived sections.

According to the information received from the District Education Department office, the process of online registration for enrollment under RTE has started from January 2, which will continue till January 31. The verification work is to be done from January 3 to February 2.

At the same time, the allocation of online school i.e. randomization will be done on 6th February. The enrollment of selected children will be done from 7th to 21st February. In this regard, District Education Officer Raghavendra Pratap Singh said that action will be taken against the private schools which have not uploaded the intake capacity, as per departmental instructions. In case of negligence in this, action can also be taken to cancel the approval.
