State Bureau, Shimla. In the government schools of Himachal Pradesh, the attendance of teachers and non-teachers will be recorded through face based biometric machines. The Directorate of School Education has procured these through the State Electronic Development Corporation. Through these machines, the attendance of all the employees working in the offices will be recorded and real-time monitoring will be done at the state level. A letter in this regard has been issued by Director School Education Department Ashish Kohli to all the Deputy Directors. New instructions have been given regarding attendance. These are modern and high quality biometric machines.

What is the specialty of the machine

Its key features include face and PIN based authentication, 3.5 inch LCD, touch panel (with Gorilla Glass), 2 megapixel network camera, capacity for over 1000 users, 1,50,000 face templates and 4,00,000 events storage. Apart from this, there is a facility of live face detection with 2 MP IR camera. There is also a minimum 4-hour battery backup and 3 years warranty.

The Directorate has also clarified that the machine should be installed at a safe place, so that theft or damage can be prevented. The concerned officials have been directed to ensure that proper training is given to the employees in operating the machine, all employees are registered in the machine and mark their attendance regularly.
