Dialogue Associate, Kurtha (Arwal). Deepak Kumar, son of Vinod Thakur, resident of Kurtha Bazar, who was riding the bike, got seriously injured in a direct collision between a passenger bus and a bike on Saturday morning near Gangapur Petrol Pump on the Kurtha-Kinjar road.
On receiving information about the accident, local people gathered, but instead of taking the injured to the hospital, they were busy making a video of him. After some time, the police arrived and immediately took the injured to the hospital, but by then the golden hour had passed and the injured died.
This incident shows the degradation of human sensibilities, where people prefer to make a video to go viral on the internet media rather than helping the injured. Deepak Kumar was a young businessman who ran a makeup shop in Motipur market.
Like every day, he was going to Motipur by bike for his shop at eight o'clock on Saturday morning. An auto driver suddenly dodged on the Kurtha-Kinjar road, due to which the bike went out of control and collided with the passenger bus coming from the front. Deepak Kumar got seriously injured in the accident due to not wearing a helmet.
Blood soaked Deepak Kumar, who had fallen on the road along with the bike, was writhing and people kept making videos of him. However, as soon as the information was received, without any delay, SHO Smita Upadhyay reached the spot and picked up the injured and immediately took him to the Community Health Center, Kurtha, from where the doctors, seeing his condition critical after first aid, referred him to Sadar Hospital, Arwal, where he died during treatment.
After the incident, the bus driver also fled from the spot leaving the vehicle, which has been seized by the police. The unidentified bus driver has been sued in the case. It may be noted that the Bihar government has increased the incentive amount from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 for the good helpers who save the lives of the injured in road accidents, so that people are motivated to help the injured.
But the Kurtha incident has spoiled this intention of the government. If the injured person was taken to the hospital during the golden hour, his life could have been saved. As soon as the news of Deepak's death in the accident was received, there was chaos in the family. The condition of the relatives was miserable due to crying.
