Agency, Patna. In Bihar, the hobby of keeping VIP numbers in vehicles is being seen among the people. People of Patna are on top in this matter.
Bihar government has earned revenue of about Rs 6 crore from e-auction of fancy and preferred vehicle registration numbers in the last two months. Transport Minister Shravan Kumar gave this information on Saturday.
According to the data of the state transport department, from December 1, 2025 to February 13, 2026, a total of 4,117 vehicle owners selected the numbers of their choice through e-auction.
Minister Shravan Kumar said that the Transport Department has earned a revenue of Rs 5.95 crore in the last two months from the e-auction of fancy and preferred vehicle registration numbers.
Online Booking System for Fancy Numbers
He said, "The department has started an online booking system for fancy number registration. A vehicle owner intending to participate in this auction registers his name and selects the number on the department's website at the time of bidding... and those who pay the highest amount are given fancy and preferred numbers.
The minister said that this is the first time that the department has earned around Rs 6 crore from e-auction of fancy numbers in just two months. Patna topped the list, while car owners in Khagaria and Sheohar showed the least interest in fancy numbers.
According to the transport department data, people of Patna spent Rs 2.46 crore on fancy numbers, while people of Khagaria spent Rs 93500 and people of Sheohar spent only Rs 52000.
Rs 52.17 lakh have been earned from Muzaffarpur district, Rs 41 lakh from Gaya and Rs 33.53 lakh from Purnia.
These numbers are in highest demand
According to officials, the most demanded numbers were 0001, 0003, 0005, 0007, and 0009. Vehicle owners must pay a specific fee for the selected numbers, which are divided into five groups (A, B, C, D, and E), each with a specific fee.
Group A reserved numbers, such as 0001, 0003, 0005, 0007, and 0009, are priced at Rs 1 lakh for non-transport trains and Rs 35,000 for transport trains, he said.
