The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is keeping an eye on treasury officers and employees in the case of irregular transfer of Rs 43 crore 13 lakh to the accounts of 93 pensioners in Chitrakoot treasury between the year 2018 and September 2025. In the initial phase, records related to pensioners, counter assistants, brokers and concerned officers and employees were summoned. After examining the documents, additional records were demanded. Now the ED has the detailed details of declared assets of seven senior treasury officers and 27 employees. Scam was going on for seven years, female pensioner had revealed the secret
The officers and employees of the District Treasury, in collusion, wrongly sent huge amounts of money to different bank accounts of pensioners in the seven years between 2018 and 2025 and then withdrew them. The money was sent to them as the amount for purchasing the property and by luring them with 10 percent commission, the money was withdrawn from them and then distributed among them. Among these accounts, many were re-opened in the names of deceased pensioners, while one account was operated in the name of a person named Rajendra Kumar, whose actual existence was not found.
The matter came to light through protest by Khandeha Mau resident Kamla Devi. Brother Omprakash had embezzled Rs 31 lakh from his account. Although before that, two IT experts of the special audit team from Prayagraj AG office exposed the entire game with the help of treasury access data, but the departmental officers and employees were busy suppressing it. When the secret was revealed, on October 17, senior treasury officer Ramesh Singh lodged a report in Karvi Kotwali against board assistant accountant Sandeep Srivastava, Ashok Kumar, assistant treasury officer Vikas Sachan, retired assistant treasury officer Awadhesh Pratap Singh and 93 account holders. Sandeep Srivastava has died during treatment. Till now, the police have sent two treasury employees, 24 pensioners and six middlemen to jail.
