Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The court of the Special Judge located at Rouse Avenue has issued notice on the revision petition filed by former MLA Shoaib Iqbal. This petition has been filed against the order framing of charges in a criminal case. The matter pertains to obstruction in the work of a government employee. Special Judge Jitendra Singh issued notice on the revision petition and directed to present the trial court records on February 19.

MCD personnel locked in room

This case is related to an FIR registered in the year 2017. The FIR alleges that during the inspection of a property in Daryaganj area, a team of Municipal Corporation (MCD) officials was stopped and locked in a room. It is alleged that the officers were allowed to leave only after talking to the Deputy Commissioner and during the investigation, the photographs taken from the mobile were forcibly deleted.

directed to frame charges

Former MLA Shoaib Iqbal has challenged the orders dated 22 November 2025 and 14 January 2026, in which instructions were given to frame charges against him. Advocate Wajih Shafiq appeared in the court on behalf of Shoaib Iqbal and his son MLA Ale Mohammad Iqbal. The November 22 order had directed framing of charges against the petitioners under IPC sections 186, 342, 353 and 201, as well as section 34.

Said in the petition – Iqbal was not an MLA at that time

It has also been said in the petition that at the time of the incident, Mohammad Iqbal was not an MLA, but was the chairman of the ward committee of the city zone of North Delhi Municipal Corporation. At the same time, Shoaib Iqbal was also not on the post of MLA that day.

In this case, on January 13, 2017, Daryaganj police station had registered an FIR on the complaint of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Sanjeev Kumar Mishra.

It has also been argued in the petition that no one has been arrested in the case nor has the mobile phone from which photographs were taken at the spot been seized. In such a situation, the allegations have been declared baseless.
