Cheated a woman in Ghaziabad. Awakening
Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. A case of fraud has come to light in Ghaziabad. Urmila Sharma, 69, retired from the Commercial Tax Department, was defrauded of Rs 20.89 lakh in the name of upgrading her mobile SIM.
On December 17, a person called the victim, resident of Patel Nagar, claiming to be a representative of Airtel company. He was told that the mobile SIM had to be upgraded from 4G to 5G. After putting the phone on flight mode at the behest of the fraudster, a total of Rs 20.89 lakh was withdrawn 32 times from the victim's RBL and Canara Bank accounts between December 19 and 20.

The victim alleges that her two manual FDs of Rs 10 lakh each were also destroyed. Urmila Sharma has expressed suspicion of connivance of bank employees in the complaint, because manual FD cannot be broken without the signature of the customer. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case in the cyber crime police station and started investigation.
