Toll plaza on Puranpur Highway. Awakening
Jagran correspondent, Pilibhit. About 60 kilometers of National Highway 730, stretching from Pilibhit to the border of Puranpur and Shahjahanpur, is becoming a death zone these days. Due to the increasing speed of vehicles and heavy pressure, the graph of accidents on this highway has increased rapidly, but the surprising thing is that the arrangements made for the safety of passengers are completely missing.
There is not even a patrolling team to monitor the 40 kilometer busy route from Puranpur to Pilibhit, the entire system is dependent on just one ambulance. If we look at the data of the last few months, on an average two to three serious road accidents are occurring every week on the Pilibhit-Puranpur Highway.
High speed, overloaded vehicles and lack of signals at turns are becoming the main causes of accidents. Due to not getting treatment during the golden hour after the accident, many people are facing untimely death. If there were regular patrolling teams on the highways, violations of traffic rules would have stopped and the number of accidents would have reduced.
If there is no patrolling, how will the speed stop?
There is no one to control the speed of vehicles in covering the distance of 40 km from Puranpur to Pilibhit and further 18 km to Shahjahanpur border. Whereas there is maximum pressure of vehicles on this route. The highway authority should deploy regular patrolling vehicles, which can remove the parked vehicles and ensure smooth traffic flow. Due to the absence of patrolling team, this highway becomes even more dangerous at night.
Monitoring of 60 kilometers depending on one ambulance
The deployment of just one ambulance for such long distance monitoring and emergency assistance raises questions over the seriousness of the administration. If accidents happen at two different places at the same time, it becomes impossible to take the injured to the hospital.
There is a provision of an ambulance at the toll, which is continuously providing its services on the highway. Although there is no patrolling team yet, a demand has been made to NHI for this. Soon the patrolling team will be present at the toll.
