State Bureau, Lucknow. BSP national president Mayawati has advised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to repent in the hijab issue. The BSP chief wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the issue of removing the hijab of a Muslim female doctor during a public program of distribution of appointment letters to doctors is continuing to escalate instead of being resolved. It would be better if the Chief Minister repents by looking at this incident in the right perspective and tries to end this dispute which is becoming bitter.
He further wrote that instead of discussing the issues of public interest and public welfare, the short winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature, which started from Friday, has become mired in debates between the government and the opposition. It would have been better if the government had been serious about the farmers' fertilizer problem and public welfare and would have been accountable to them in the House. The winter session of Parliament also ended without considering other problems including the severe problem of air pollution in the capital Delhi.
Expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions in Bangladesh
Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation in Bangladesh, the BSP chief wrote that the situation in the neighboring country which is deteriorating rapidly and anti-India activities are increasing there like in Nepal, is also a matter of concern. The Central Government should take cognizance and work as per long term policy.
Regarding the police salute to the narrator in Bahraich, the BSP chief wrote that the police parade and salute has its own tradition, rules, decorum, discipline and sanctity, which should not be played with at all. The state government should prevent recurrence of such incidents.
