On Wednesday morning, near Gaighat Ganga bank of Alamganj police station area, the team of STF, DIU and Patna Police conducted a half encounter with the absconding notorious criminal Rajeev alias Surya. Notorious criminal Rajeev alias Surya, who was running away while firing at the police team, got hit by a bullet in his left leg.
As soon as he was shot, he fell on the ground. The police admitted the injured criminal to Nalanda Medical College Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared his condition out of danger.
Nine serious crimes are registered against the injured criminal in three police station areas. FSL team reached the spot for investigation and conducted investigation. During the encounter, a police vehicle got damaged while chasing the criminal. After treatment, the police will present the criminal in the court and send him to jail.
Had reached Gaighat for recovery
According to the police, at around 4 am on Wednesday morning, information was received about the arrival of notorious criminal Rajeev alias Surya in Gaighat to extort money from the sailors. As soon as the information was received, STF, DIU and local police laid siege to Gaighat.
As soon as the criminal saw the police at around 4:40 pm, he started running away by firing at the police. In self-defense, the police also fired a bullet which hit the left leg of the notorious criminal. He got injured and fell down after being shot in the leg.
The police arrested the injured criminal and took him to NMCH for treatment. Where the doctors declared his condition out of danger. Police recovered a country-made pistol and three shells from the spot.
During the encounter, a police vehicle was also damaged during the chase. After the police encounter, the FSL team investigated and collected evidence.
Serious criminal, used to change appearance to escape from police
After investigating the incident site, Eastern SP Parichay Kumar told on Wednesday that Rajiv Kumar alias Surya is a resident of Diwan Mohalla (Seedhi Ghat) of Khajekalan police station area. Nine serious criminal cases including murder, robbery, dacoity, extortion and Arms Act are registered against him in three police station areas.
In many cases the police were searching for him for a long time. According to the police, in recent times he was living on the banks of Ganga, avoiding the eyes of the police. According to the police, he used to change his facial appearance after every incident.
Even on Wednesday, when there was a face-to-face between the police and Surya, the police were also stunned to see his new look. Later, through IT, it became clear from the face that the said young man was Surya.

According to the police, when the criminal was asked to stop, he started running and firing at the police. While chasing, the police also fired a bullet in self-defense which hit the criminal's left leg. Police said that after treatment from the hospital, the arrested will be produced in the court and sent to jail.
Police said that many cases are expected to be cracked after the interrogation of the arrested criminal. Later the police will take him on remand and interrogate him. Alamganj police station incharge Rahul Kumar Thakur said that Manoj and Sanoj, two brothers of criminal Surya who were injured in the police encounter, are already in jail in a criminal case.
