Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. In the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter list conducted after almost 22 years, more than one lakh voters have come forward who have passed away. Even in this figure, the city assembly seat remains at the forefront, while the number of deceased voters was found to be the lowest in Mirganj assembly seat. The names of deceased voters will now be out of the list.
On the instructions of the Election Commission, the work of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list started from November 4. Door to door survey was conducted for the population of 34.05 lakh in the district. The administration created the same number of BLOs as per the 3499 booths of the district and got the counting forms filled by voters everywhere. They were also uploaded on the website of the Commission.
During the door to door survey, 7.14 lakh voters were not found in the district. These include voters who have passed away and have shifted to other places and are not available. While the number of missing voters is highest in the city and Cantt assembly constituencies, the number of deaths is also highest in these two assembly constituencies. More than 1.15 lakh voters in the district passed away in previous years.
There are no more than 19 thousand voters in the city assembly seat and more than 17 thousand voters in the Cantt assembly seat. 15 thousand people died in Bithrichainpur and more than 13 thousand people died in Faridpur. More than 10 thousand names will be deleted from Amla assembly constituency this time. There are about nine thousand deceased voters each in Nawabganj and Baheri areas.
The lowest number of deceased voters is in Mirganj assembly seat. Here the names of about eight thousand deceased voters are to be removed from the list. Deputy District Election Officer Santosh Kumar Singh said that the draft will be published on December 31. After that claims and objections will be invited from the people. The final voter list will be published on 28 February.
2.92 lakh voters shifted to another place
Among the untraced voters in the district, there are 2.92 lakh voters who have shifted to other places. In this, the maximum city assembly seat has more than 50 thousand voters. At the same time, more than 45 thousand people have shifted in the Cantt assembly constituency.
The number of people shifted to Bahedi is more than 33 thousand. In Mirganj this figure is lowest at around 22 thousand. In other assembly constituencies, 22 to 30 thousand voters have gone to other places. The names of these voters are also expected to be removed from the list.
