State Bureau, Chandigarh. Every district of Haryana will now be recognized as having special sports. Based on the inclination of the students, past history of the players and demand of the area residents, the Haryana government has decided to open Sports Excellence Center in every district of the state.
Work on these will start in the new year. The state government has decided in which district the Sports Excellence Center for which sport will be opened. Sports Excellence Centers will be established for the game of cricket in Sirsa district and football in Jhajjar. For this, PMShri and Model Culture schools have been selected at the district level, which will be equipped with modern sports facilities. The Education Department has issued a notification in this regard. For this, one sport has been allotted to each district. This scheme will be implemented through the Sports Department. According to the notification, excellence centers for wrestling, five for boxing and four for badminton will be established in the state. Only Sirsa district has been selected for cricket. There will be an excellence center for hockey in Baijalpur School of Fatehabad.
Multipurpose halls will be constructed in 15 districts to allow players to practice without the constraints of weather. In these halls, training for sports like badminton, table tennis, wrestling, boxing and kabaddi can be given. Modern swimming pools will be built in schools located in Samaypur, Faridabad and Sector-20, Panchkula. The Education Department has sent the list of selected schools and the detailed proposal to the Finance Department. Funds will be released for the construction work as soon as the budget is approved. The aim of the Education Department is to start the construction work of these centers in schools before the beginning of the next academic session, so that talented students of rural and urban areas can get great facilities for sports in their own district.
