Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. “India and France will jointly manufacture the world's only helicopter that can fly to the heights of Mount Everest in India and export it to the whole world.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this announcement in a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday and it well underlined the strategic relations which are deepening day by day between the two countries and said that the inauguration of the helicopter assembly line in India is a shining example of the deep trust between the two countries.

Agreements signed between India and France

A high level meeting of India and France was held in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Modi and Macron. During this period, 20 types of agreements were signed or programs were announced between the two countries. There is also an agreement between Indian company BEL and French company Saffron for manufacturing Hammer missile in India.

Macron reached Mumbai on Monday night on a four-day visit to India. In the meeting between Macron and Modi, the strategic relations between India and France were given the status of special global strategic partnership. This means that at the global level both countries will value each other as special strategic partners.

Relations between India and France are very special - PM Modi

PM Modi said, "The relations between India and France are very special. France is one of India's oldest strategic partners. Together with President Macron, we have given unprecedented depth and energy to this partnership. Today we are establishing our relations as a special global strategic partner."

Both the leaders virtually inaugurated the assembly line established by the joint venture of Tata Group and Airbus Company in Karnataka. It is here that Airbus' H-125 model helicopter will be manufactured.

Better monitoring of activities in the Himalayan region

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and French Defense Minister Catherine Vatrin were present at the plant site. According to the strategic needs of India, H-125 is being considered very important because with its help, India will now be able to better monitor any kind of activities in the entire Himalayan region, to deliver logistics or other equipment or for security.

This is being marked not only as an expansion of defense production under the defense cooperation between India and France but as a decisive step towards establishing India as a global center of high technology manufacturing.

'The partnership between India and France is deeper than the sea and higher than the mountains'

The Indian Defense Minister has said that an investment of Rs 1,000 crore will be made on this project and many people will get employment. Seeing its importance, PM Modi said, "The partnership between India and France now has no limits, it is deeper than the sea and higher than the mountains."

Referring to the uncertainties in the global scenario, Prime Minister Modi said, "In the current turbulent times, India-France cooperation has emerged as a strong axis of global stability. We are combining the expertise of France and the large market of India. We are developing reliable technology."

Several important agreements in the areas of defence, aerospace, emerging technologies, clean energy and maritime cooperation were finalized during the meeting between the two leaders. Apart from this, it was agreed to further accelerate defense research and development, exchange of sensitive technologies, maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and clean energy initiatives.

Among the major agreements signed today, there are three agreements related to the field of rare technologies. There are three agreements related to the health sector. India and France have launched India-France Year of Innovation and India-France Innovation.
