District Agriculture Officer Sant Lal Gupta showing solar lights.
Jagran correspondent, Kannauj. Farmers will not have to spray pesticides to protect crops from pests. For this, the Agriculture Department has arranged solar light trap. Farmers in the district have received 800 lights to be installed in their fields and these will be given to the farmers at 75 percent subsidy. For this, farmers will have to register.
At present wheat and vegetables are being sown in the district. To protect crops from pests, farmers spray pesticides, which affect human health. The chemical that is sprayed to protect crops from pests destroys the nutrients in the crops and also destroys friendly insects.
Now harmful insects will be destroyed in the fields with solar powered lights. The Agriculture Department has made arrangements for solar energy based lights so that farmers do not have to spray excessive pesticides in the fields.
District Agriculture Officer Sant Lal Gupta said that 800 solar lights have arrived in the district. These will be distributed to the farmers who register. 75 percent grant will be given on this. This solar light will be installed in the middle of the fields.
If this solar light is lit at night then insects will come near the light. There will be a trap located below the light, like a big box. After filling water in this trap, some diesel will have to be poured. Insects coming near the light will fall into the trap and die.
