In-laws Built Two Temples Inside The House... They Started Hating, Married Woman Narrated Her Ordeal To The Police In Dehradun

Jagran correspondent, Vikasnagar (Dehradun). In Kotwali Sahaspur, a Scheduled Caste married woman has filed a case against her husband and in-laws, originally from Rajasthan, on charges of harassment.

The married woman alleged that because she belonged to a different caste, her in-laws built two temples inside the house. Even working in the kitchen was hated.

The married woman resident of Tiparpur had given an application to the women's helpline, Dehradun.

Told that she was married as per Hindu customs on 23 April 2016 in Tiparpur with Ashok Sharma, native of Bamori Bhakkad Mohalla Bardhala Karoli police station Garhmora district Karauli (Rajasthan).

After marriage, she started living with her husband in Arcadia Grant, Badowala Phase 3. She had built the house along with her husband.

Two years later, the husband fraudulently sold the house and they started living in a rented house.

He has a nine-year-old son, who lives with him. After marriage, husband's brothers Sagar Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, mother Lalita Devi and father Dinesh Chand also started living in the house.

Husband Ashok Sharma knew her before marriage. They had arranged marriage. It is alleged that differences with the married woman started ever since other people from her in-laws started living with them.

Mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law started abusing. He started being insulted by using caste related words. There was already a temple built in the house, but later a second temple was built in the house itself. Threats of divorce started.

Her husband and in-laws used to beat her and also used to make videos. Her sister-in-law Hemlata also used to abuse her on phone. Even after falling ill, he was neglected.

Before marriage, the victim used to work for ten thousand rupees per month. Her husband got her fired from her job in the year 2019.

Husband and brother-in-law together do marble business in Jhajhra with another partner. The husband also does contractor work. In April 2025, the husband stopped living with her and also blocked her phone number.

SSI Vikas Rawat said that the matter is being investigated.
