Jagran correspondent, Hajipur. On Tuesday, near Digghi on Hajipur-Bachhwara railway section, a goods train loaded with onions suddenly split into two parts. However, there were no casualties in this incident.
Due to the presence of mind of the driver, the train was saved from derailment and a major accident was averted. This incident is said to have taken place after around 11:30 am, due to which railway operations were affected for about 10 to 15 minutes.
According to the information received, a goods train loaded with onions suddenly split into two parts while moving near Dighi Railway Dhala No. 54 on Hajipur-Bachhbada railway section. The engine moved forward carrying more than half of the bogies, while the rear portion remained on the track.
As soon as the goods train split into two parts, the guard informed the driver. As soon as the information was received, the driver showed promptness and stopped the goods train. On the information of the driver, Hajipur Station Superintendent along with technical staff and RPF in-charge Saket Kumar reached the spot.
After this the train was brought back by the driver. The technical staff fixed the coupling and connected the two parts within about 10 to 15 minutes, after which the goods train was sent forward.
RPF in-charge said that due to technical fault and gas leakage in the pipe between two coaches of the goods train near Digghi, the coupling was broken, due to which the train got divided into two parts. In this regard, the CPRO said that he has no information about any such incident.
