Online Fraud Of Rs 2.50 Lakh From Seven States Through Mule Account, Report Filed Against Two

As part of the ongoing action to curb the increasing cases of cyber fraud in the district, a major case of online financial fraud has come to light in Asmoli police station area. In the cyber cell investigation, the police has registered an FIR against two accused and started investigation in the case of cheating people of seven states of the country of Rs 2.5 lakh through a Mule Bank account.

During the preventive action being taken to prevent cyber fraud, the District Cyber ​​Cell received information to verify a suspicious bank account in village Chandwar of Asmoli police station area. During investigation, an account running in the Bank of Maharashtra branch was found suspicious. According to the details received from the concerned bank, this account was registered in the name of Gulfam of village Chandwar. In checking the account statement, a total of 10,304 transactions were found to be invalid between April 23, 2025 and April 25, 2025.

After checking on the coordination portal, a total of 17 complaints were registered on the NCRP portal regarding online fraud related to that account. Which belong to various states including Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Telangana. In these complaints, online fraud of small and big amounts of money was done. During interrogation, account holder Gulfam told that Nazim, resident of village Nasirpur of Hayatnagar police station area, was in contact with him.

Nazim lured him by giving him Rs 2.5 lakh and got him opened an account in Bank of Maharashtra, registered his mobile number in four accounts and kept the passbook and debit card with him. Later the account was misused by taking OTP.

Inspector Mohit Chaudhary, in-charge of Asmoli, said that Gulfam and Nazim, in mutual connivance, earned unauthorized financial benefits by cheating people of different states online. In this case, an FIR has been registered against both the accused and further action is being taken.
