Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. Most of the Amrit Sarovars in the district have been constructed by renovating old ponds or are being constructed. Of the 317 lakes, construction of more than 50 percent has not been completed. In the month of February itself, there is almost no water in many Amrit Sarovars and at some places there is very less water. In such a situation, not even a drop of water will remain in them in the extreme heat.

There is no water in the lakes but there is definitely dirt in them. Due to lack of cleaning of the lakes, huge grass and bushes have also grown. This is not being paid attention to by those responsible. There is no arrangement for water in these and only rain water is being awaited.

Bareilly Amrit Sarovar Report: Block wise status of work

Most of the lakes in the district are being built in Majhgawan block but more lakes are left to be built in Damkhoda block. There is no road to reach many lakes and at many places the road that was built has also been broken. Construction work boards have not even been installed on many lakes, although this is necessary. Work on many lakes is going on on paper but the actual situation is telling something else.

Amrit Sarovar is being built in 15 blocks of the district. At many places, work has been done on more than the number of lakes, while at other places only one or two lakes have been completed. Maximum 55 Amrit Sarovar are being built in Bhadpura block. Here the work of 40 lakes has been completed and the work of 15 is incomplete. Apart from this, work on 25 out of 37 ponds in Damkhoda is incomplete.

17 out of 34 in Bhuta, five out of 27 in Nawabganj, 12 out of 26 in Baheri, 17 out of 19 in Alampur Jafrabad, 14 out of 19 in Ramnagar, five out of 19 in Shergarh, seven out of 18 in Faridpur, nine out of 18 in Bithri Chainpur, 16 out of 17 in Majhganwa, 16 out of 17 in Fatehganj West. 12, eight out of 12 in Mirganj and five out of five in Kyara are in progress.

The condition of Purnapur Sarovar is very bad.

Hatu wale pond in Purnapur of Bithri Chainpur block is being renovated into Amrit Sarovar. The work of this lake started on 16 June 2022. Its estimated cost is Rs 3.98 lakh. There are also pilgrimage sites of two religions around this lake. In such a situation, most of the people keep coming here.

The condition of this lake is very bad. There is dirt in it. Big grass has grown. The CC road built on its side has also been uprooted. The surrounding trees have also dried up. The soil of the lake has also not been cleaned and the water level is very less.

The lake in Tiliapur completely dried up

The condition of Amrit Sarovar in Tiliapur, CBganj of Fatehganj Western Block is very bad. It is being built by renovating the Gangaram pond. Due to its large area, the estimated cost of its construction is more than Rs 44 lakh. There is only nominal water left in the lake and it will dry up in the extreme heat. CC Road has become completely dilapidated. Apart from this, bushes have also grown.

Clear date of construction not even written on the board

Amrit Sarovar is dry in Mudiya Jagroop village of Bhadpura. Along with bushes and grass, there is also dirt here. Its wall is broken. Here only a construction board has been dug and installed. Its inset and outset have not been made. It is constructed in the year 2022-23 at a cost of Rs 3.92 lakh. The clear date of construction is also not written on the board.
