Jagran correspondent, Bhiwani. A medical hall located at Meham Chowk has come at the center of a major controversy. In the detailed complaint filed by advocate Sunil Goyal, it has been alleged that medicines at the medical store are being sold without valid bills/cash memos, alleged price manipulation is being done and attempts are being made to hide evidence by refusing to show CCTV footage.

According to the complaint, on January 20, the bill for purchasing medicines was refused. Later, during price verification, a different price was quoted than the amount quoted earlier. The allegation is also that the CCTV recording was refused to be shown saying there was no time. The complainant has described this as a serious violation of consumer rights, tax laws and drug rules.

The matter became more heated when questions were raised about the impartiality of the investigation at the local level. The complainant has sent letters to several higher officials including the Prime Minister's Office, Chief Secretary of Haryana Government, CGST Haryana Zone and Health Department, demanding that the investigation be conducted not at the district level but by senior officials at the Chandigarh level. He says that local officials were already requested to be kept away from the case, yet the same officials are investigating.

Meanwhile, the Excise and Taxation Department has issued a letter to the complainant asking him to appear in person, which he has termed as gratification. The date related error in the letter has also raised questions.

The matter is no longer limited to just one medical store, but is becoming a big question mark on tax compliance, consumer rights and administrative transparency. If the charges are proven, penalties ranging from license suspension to financial penalties and criminal action could be possible.
