Prince Srivastava, Ranchi. The reason behind the killing of 17 Maoists by Jharkhand Police is an intensive, well-planned and continuous operation that lasted for two months, the strategy of which is now coming to light. This success did not happen suddenly, but is the result of a long process of breaking the backbone of the Maoists.
Police had already received accurate intelligence that about 62 Maoists were active in Saranda area. Based on this input, Jharkhand Police started a massive search operation in Saranda two months ago. The most special thing about this campaign was that it was not stopped even for a day.
As part of the strategy to maintain constant pressure, joint teams of Police, Jharkhand Jaguar and CRPF remained in the forests. The first phase of the operation was to destroy the supply line of the Maoists. The police stopped the supply of ration, medicine, batteries and other essential items in a planned manner.
The effect of this was that the condition of the Maoists hiding in the forests kept worsening day by day. To avoid the police siege, the Maoists had laid land mines on a large scale around their hideouts to prevent the access of security forces, but during the continuous search operation, the police kept finding land mines one after the other and they were defused.
As the pressure increased, the Maoists retreated and their movement became limited. On January 21, the situation reached such a turning point when the police and Maoists came face to face.
Due to complete stoppage of supplies, the Maoists had become mentally and physically weak. During this time an encounter took place, in which the police got great success and 17 Maoists were killed.
The last member of the Central Committee is on target.
After this encounter the Maoist organization has suffered a major setback. Five members of the Central Committee were said to be active, out of which Prashant Gop had already been arrested.
Anal, Shahdev Soren and Vivek were killed in the encounter. Now Central Committee member Misir Besra is on the target of the police and is being considered as the next big target.
According to the police, at one time Maoists were active in 22 districts in Jharkhand, but due to continuous operations, their presence has now been reduced to only two police station areas of one district.
Police claim that about 45 remaining Maoists will either be arrested or killed in the encounter. After this Jharkhand can be declared completely Maoist free.
The action lasted for 72 hours, from IG to the soldiers, they remained firm.
This action lasted for about 72 hours, in which everyone from the IG level to the ground personnel remained steadfast. This entire operation was being monitored at a high level.
The IG and SP remained continuously connected with the officers involved in the operation through satellite phones and wireless sets. Information was taken from moment to moment and the strategy was changed based on that. Ultimately this joint effort proved decisive.
Maoists returned after 13 years from where they had fled in 2011
In the year 2011, Maoists had left Saranda and reached Tri Junction zone of Khunti. From there he moved to Kolhan area. But in the year 2024, he again made Saranda his base.
The Maoists had the misconception that they would be safe by returning to their old areas, but the changed police strategy ruined their plans.
Jharkhand Police has got great success. Soon the entire Jharkhand will be called free from Maoists. As a result of the joint action of Jharkhand Jaguar, CRPF and Jharkhand Police, 17 Maoists were killed simultaneously. -Anup Birthare, IG, Jharkhand Jaguar
Now Egypt is on the target of Jharkhand Police. Maoists should surrender. They will be given all benefits under the surrender policy. Maoists have surrendered in many other states. The campaign against Maoists is continuing. -Saket Singh, IG, CRPF
