On the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Palwal city is going to get an important and proud identity. The elevated flyover located from Maharshi Dayanand Chowk to Kisan Chowk (Alawalpur Chowk) on Delhi Agra National Highway NH-19 will now be known as “Atal Setu”.
Municipal Council Chairman Dr. Yashpal said that this decision was taken after detailed and positive discussions in a special meeting held with Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini. This decision is in line with the sentiments of the people of Palwal and is a concrete step towards giving permanent honor to a national leader whose contribution has been deeply linked to the country's infrastructure and national unity.

Dr. Yashpal said that late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the visionary leaders of modern India under whose leadership historic initiatives like the National Highway Development Project came true. These schemes strengthened the country's connectivity, gave impetus to trade and industry and provided a strong foundation for economic development.
The naming of this elevated flyover located on an important national highway like NH-19 as “Atal Setu” is a symbol of respect for his visionary leadership and developmental thinking.
It is noteworthy that this elevated flyover was dedicated to the nation on 10 April 2022, which was inaugurated by Union Minister of State Shri Krishnapal Gurjar. This flyover, approximately 3.25 kilometers long and having four lanes, extends from Alawalpur Chowk to Agra Chowk.
Built at a cost of approximately ₹215.24 crore, this project has played a decisive role in reducing traffic pressure and ensuring smooth mobility in Palwal city.

“Atal Setu” has today become an important foundation of Palwal's transport system, which provides safe, organized and timely transportation facility to thousands of citizens and passengers every day. This structure will no longer be just an infrastructure project, but will become an enduring symbol of the values of good governance, development, connectivity and national unity.
It was clarified that the Municipal Council Palwal will pass the resolution as per the rules and will soon send it to the concerned competent authorities for necessary formalities and will provide a new, dignified and historical identity to Palwal city.
