People have also felt relief from the dry cold which is harmful to health. Besides, rain has also proved beneficial for the crops. But with the rising temperatures in the Terai-Bhabar region stopping in the last one week, the chill has increased again. It is expected that the weather will remain the same for the next few days. In fact, the weather had started taking a turn since late Thursday night. Strong winds started blowing from midnight. Friday also remained cloudy. Cold winds continued throughout the day in the surrounding areas including Haldwani. It started raining with light drizzle around 3 pm. When the clouds rained after October, people's faces lit up. Within no time the sequence of showers intensified and it started raining heavily. Which continued till late night. In such a situation, a drop in temperature was recorded.
Rain and snowfall may continue
According to the Meteorological Center, the maximum temperature recorded in Haldwani area was 18.2 degrees. Whereas, the minimum temperature was 10 degrees. At the same time, according to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, rain and snowfall may continue in the mountainous areas till January 29. Rain may occur at some places in the plains also. In such a situation, the effect of cold may persist.
Insulator of 13 bigha power house burst, supply halted
There was electricity problem in many areas in Haldwani on Friday due to strong winds. There were a lot of problems in the evening. The problem of tripping continued due to collision with trees on the main line. At the same time, at around 5 pm, the insulator of the 13 Bigha power house burst. In such a situation, power supply came to a standstill in the surrounding areas including Ujala Nagar. People had to face problems due to the electricity supply being affected due to increasing cold. EE Pradeep Kumar of Electricity Distribution Division Haldwani Nagar said that the supply was started late in the evening.
