Panipat businessman drowns in canal in Yamunanagar, SDRF team also called

Jagran correspondent, Yamunanagar. A businessman from Panipat who came to Yamunanagar with friends drowned in the Western Yamuna canal near Nagawa Jagir of Thana Budiya area. The incident took place late on Thursday evening, in which the police searched till night with the help of local divers but could not trace the businessman. On Friday, the police called the SDRF team along with the team of divers.

According to the police, Devendra (40), resident of Lakhu Buana village of Panipat, is a businessman. Devendra had come to Yamunanagar on Thursday on New Year with his friends Sandeep, Surjeet and Praveen. After roaming in the city, he reached near the Western Yamuna Canal in Kashmirgarh village in Budiya police station area late in the evening. Devendra got into the water to take bath in the canal here.

Cold and darkness prevented him from bathing in the canal, but he did not stop. Devendra started drowning in water as soon as he entered the canal. Seeing him drowning, his friends raised an alarm and called the people nearby for help. Budiya police station reached the spot.
