Number sticker pasted on the glass of doctor's car, BRD Medical College. Awakening
Gajadhar Dwivedi, Gorakhpur. BRD Medical College administration has taken a unique initiative to curb the doctors leaving classes and hospitals for private practice in BRD Medical College. To ensure the presence of doctors in the college and their stay in the campus, a unique number has been issued to each doctor. Number stickers have been made and pasted on the doctors' vehicles.
The list of names of doctors along with numbers has been made available to the security guards at the main gate. As soon as the doctor arrives at the college, the number and time are recorded on the register. As soon as the vehicle leaves the premises, its time is also compulsorily noted. Its account is being kept every week in the administrative meeting.
Through this process it becomes clearly known which doctor was present in the college premises and for how long. Earlier, while on duty, many doctors used to come out of the college after two-three hours and practice in private clinics or hospitals, now this has been curbed to a great extent.

The administration says that this system has been implemented not just for monitoring, but in the interest of the patients. The data collected daily by the guards is being reviewed in weekly meetings. In these meetings, if any doctor remains present in the college for less than the prescribed duty time, he is summoned to answer. For this reason, they have now started avoiding leaving the premises while on duty.
Patients will directly benefit from this initiative. Regular availability of doctors in OPD, ward and emergency will reduce the problem of delay in treatment. Besides, junior doctors and medical students will also be able to get timely guidance from senior doctors. Students' studies will also not be affected.
