Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. In the case of making 22 passports in Ghaziabad on fake names and addresses, the police has not been able to clarify what was the real purpose of these passports. So far, the investigation has revealed that the arrested agent Vivek Gandhi was charging up to Rs 1.5 lakh for each passport, which makes it clear that this was not a simple fraud, but a well-planned and large-scale network.

Five accused were arrested

According to police, 22 applicants had obtained passports on fake identities and incomplete addresses. Whereas passport applications were made on behalf of two applicants. All the applications were made at the Passport Office in Delhi. Police interrogation revealed that Vivek Gandhi collected huge amounts of money from many applicants.

Three applicants who came in contact with Prakash Subba are said to be from north-eastern states, whose passports were issued on fake addresses in Bhojpur. Police are also investigating this aspect as to why and for what purpose these people were selected.

At present, four police teams are busy searching for the absconding accused. However, according to the information received by the police from the passport department, till now no person has gone out of the country using these passports.

All 22 passports have been revoked, thereby averting the potential threat for the time being. Despite this, the biggest question still remains that why the people who got passports made at such an expensive price wanted to go abroad.

possibility of terrorist network

Is this matter limited only to pigeon-holing, or was a network of terrorists, Khalistani supporters, corruption accused or absconding criminals active behind it? The police have not been able to reach any concrete conclusion at present. At present, the biggest challenge before the police and intelligence agencies is to uncover the real motive behind this racket.

All aspects are being investigated. The search for the absconding people has been intensified and soon the entire network will be exposed.
