Patient jumped after breaking the bathroom glass of the second floor of the popular hospital, died
Jagran Correspondent, Meerut: A patient admitted in the ICU on the second floor of Popular Hospital reached the bathroom alone on Friday night at around 10 pm and broke the glass and jumped down. He was seriously injured after falling on his head. He was immediately taken to emergency where doctors declared him dead. After the incident the relatives created a ruckus in the hospital. He said that he wanted the patient alive. The police reached the spot and pacified them. Police say that investigation is being done as to why and under what circumstances the patient took such a suicidal step.
Sanjay Chaudhary, originally a resident of Hamirpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, used to work in Microtech Battery company. He lived with his family in a rented house in Hydel Colony, Victoria Park, Civil Lines police station. Sanjay's brother-in-law Pradeep also lives in the same colony. Pradeep is a clerk in the electricity department and is posted in Gulavathi, Bulandshahr. Wife Jyoti Choudhary told that there was lack of blood in Sanjay's body. Sanjay was admitted to the ICU located on the second floor of Popular Hospital on Tuesday evening under the supervision of Dr. PK Shukla. Four units of blood were demanded for Sanjay. Four units of blood were provided. Three units of blood had been transfused to Sanjay. Wife Jyoti often sat outside the ICU. Jyoti alleges that after admission, Sanjay Chaudhary's family members were not allowed to meet him. Jyoti had gone home to have dinner on Friday evening. At 10 pm, a call came on Jyoti's mobile that Sanjay had broken the glass of the ICU bathroom and jumped down. When the family members reached the hospital, Sanjay was found dead. The family members created a ruckus accusing the hospital administration of negligence. The wife and other family members started demanding the hospital administration to return Sanjay alive. He asked why Sanjay was allowed to go from the ICU to the bathroom alone. The hospital administration is responsible for this incident. The police reached there and pacified the relatives. Sanjay's brother-in-law says that he will file a case in the matter.
Sanjay Chaudhary was brought by Dr. PK Shukla. He was admitted in the ICU under his care. At night, Sanjay got up from the bed and roamed around the ICU for some time and went out. The staff ran after him. Sanjay went inside the bathroom and closed the door. After a few minutes, he broke the bathroom mirror and jumped down. The police is investigating what is the reason for his death. There is no fault of the hospital administration in the entire episode.
