Dialogue partner, Jagran, Bahjoi. If your name is not in the Panchayat voter list, it has been deleted by mistake or any amendment has to be made in it, then now you have only three days left. Not only this, this is an important opportunity for the youth who are completing 18 years on January 1, 2026, to become voters. If there is a delay, you may lose your right to vote in the Panchayat elections, hence it is important to contact the BLO immediately.

As part of the preparations for the three-tier Panchayat elections, the provisional publication of the Panchayat election list in the district has been done on December 23 and according to the district level data, after the revision, the number of voters has increased by two percent and has reached 13,69,505, whereas before the revision, a total of 13,42,622 voters were registered in the 670 Gram Panchayats of the district.

On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission, the process of addition, deletion and amendment of names was completed by running a door-to-door campaign by the booth level officers, in which a total of 1,57,986 voters' names were added, 1,31,103 voters' names were removed from the list and 10,759 voters' names were amended, thus net 26,883 new voters were added.

If we look at the block-wise situation, the highest increase of 6.54 percent was recorded in Baniyakheda development block, while there was an increase of 5.26 percent in Asmoli and 4.48 percent in Bahjoi, while a decline of 1.56 percent was recorded in Rajpura development block and 4.53 percent in Junwai, where a large number of names were removed from the list due to duplicate and other reasons.

According to the program released by the Commission, the notification of the provisional voter list has been pasted at the district headquarters, tehsil and block headquarters and now claims and objections can be filed between December 23 and 30, but now only three days are left for the end of this period.

During this time, any voter can go to the concerned BLO and inspect the list and register his objection if the name is missing, crossed out or there is an error in the entry. After disposal of claims and objections, a revised voter list will be prepared and the final publication of the Panchayat election roll will be done on February 2, 2026.

Voter lists of Panchayat and Assembly constituencies are different

At present work is going on on two voter lists in rural areas. First of all, the verification of voters is going on under SIR by the Election Commission of India, this list is being prepared according to the assembly constituency. Which has the most tension but there is confusion among the voters as to which list their name is in and which list is not.

If they have given their documents for the Panchayat list then they do not care about others and if they have given their documents in the SIR then they are not concerned about the Panchayat list. Voters who are not aware are considering both as one and the same.

Now there is a need to be careful that for the elections to be held in Gram Panchayat for Gram Pradhan, Area Panchayat Member, Gram Panchayat Member and District Panchayat Member, the revision work of voter list is going on by the Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission and the last day for claims and objections is 30th December and on the other hand, the last date for claims and objections for the SIR being conducted by the Election Commission of India is also fixed as 30th December. So ensure your names for both.
