Jagran correspondent, Srinagar. With the mercury falling again in Kashmir, the entire valley is moving towards Chille Kalan. The night temperature has gone below zero degrees in most of the districts here.
The day and night temperature in Gulmarg, the world famous tourist destination, is below ten degrees. The 40-day harshest winter journey in the valley will begin from December 21.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday there was sunshine with light clouds in many parts of the state. According to Meteorological Center Srinagar, between December 18 and 21, there may be light snowfall in the mountainous areas of North and Central Kashmir along with rain and snowfall in other parts of the state. After this, there is a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas on 29-31 December also.
The feeling of coolness has increased with the sudden drop in night mercury in Kashmir. Most areas of the valley including Srinagar remained foggy on Tuesday morning. Due to this, vehicular movement on the roads was partially disrupted due to lack of visibility. There will be light to moderate fog in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir division.
In case of snowfall, passengers and transporters have been advised to travel under the advisory of traffic and administration. The maximum temperature in the capital Srinagar was recorded at 14.1 degrees Celsius, up 4.8 degrees above normal, in Pahalgam it was 12.6 degrees Celsius, up 5.7 degrees above normal and in Gulmarg it was 9.6 degrees Celsius, up 5.7 degrees above normal.
Due to sunshine throughout the day in Jammu, there was not much feeling of cold. The maximum temperature here was 23.4 and the minimum temperature was 8.4 degrees Celsius.
