Due to this, their income has also remained limited. Now these will be combined with cash crops like strawberry, dragon fruit, makhana and mushroom. Under this, preparations are being made to increase the area of cash crops in the district to about two thousand hectares. Its blueprint has also been drawn under PM Dhandhanya Krishi Yojana.
Farmers' income will increase due to central government scheme
PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana Prayagraj is included among the 100 districts of the country where agricultural production is low. Farmers sweat day and night, yet their income is not increasing. For such districts, the Central Government has launched PM Dhandhanya Krishi Yojana. In this, work has to be done to increase production and income of farmers in new ways. Under this, the Horticulture Department in the district has prepared an action plan to increase the scope of cash crops.
Will grow strawberry, dragon fruit, makhana and mushroom crops
PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana Till now, cash crops are cultivated in about eight thousand hectares in Prayagraj, which will now be increased to 10 thousand hectares. Among cash crops, farmers here are cultivating vegetables and flowers the most. Strawberry, dragon fruit, makhana and mushroom crops also provide decent income.
Farmers will learn farming methods and nuances related to business
PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana Strawberry, dragon fruit and mushroom cultivation is already being done, but their area is one hectare or less. Now more and more farmers will be connected to these four crops. How they are cultivated and the nuances related to their business will be taught to the farmers. The benefits of this will be explained.
New cold stores will open along with the fruit processing plant.
There is also a need to establish a fruit processing plant in the district. Its action plan has also been included in PM Dhandhanya Krishi Yojana. Setting up a fruit processing plant will provide convenience in making products from fruits. Apart from this, there is also a demand to increase the cold store. Now their proposals will be sent to the government. Further work will begin after approval and guidelines are received.
Scope of cash crops will be increased: CDO
CDO Harshika Singh says that under the PM Dhandhanya Krishi Yojana, an action plan is being made to increase the scope of cash crops in the district. Farmers will be introduced to new crops like strawberry, dragon fruit etc. This will increase their income.
