Policemen verifying the work of BLO deployed in SIR
Dialogue partner, brother-in-law. During the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list, out of 15.70 lakh voters, the counting forms of 3.19 lakh i.e. about 20 percent have not been filled. In these, more than 40 percent voters have been shown absent in more than 25 booths in Sambhal and Asmoli assembly.
District Election Officer Dr. Rajendra Pansia has taken initiative and made arrangements for cross checking at his level. Beat constables have also been engaged in verification work. These constables are going door-to-door to check whether the concerned voters are actually present at their address or not.
In the booths where the percentage of absentee voters is found to be high, this investigation is being conducted on priority basis. It has been revealed that during verification, many such voters were found who are in Sambhal but have been shown absent.
Actually, under the ongoing SIR process in the district, a total of 15,70,306 enumeration forms have been prescribed in the district, out of which 12,51,284 forms have been submitted. 1,07,958 forms are in the unmapping category.
80,640 voters have been registered as absent, 1,23,110 displaced, 58,107 deceased, 33,437 duplicate and 23,742 in other category. Including all these categories, 3,19,022 names are in the process of being cut.
To make this process more transparent and factual, the administration has started ground verification of the work of BLOs. On the initiative of DM, keeping Sambhal Tehsil at the centre, this cross checking is being conducted in Sambhal Assembly as well as Asmoli Assembly constituency.
Under this, beat constables have been engaged in verification work, who are going door-to-door to check whether the situation recorded in the census forms filled by BLOs is genuine or not. Verification work is being done in Chandausi Assembly.
More than 25 booths in the district have been identified for cross checking, where the percentage of absentee or other categories has been found to be relatively high.
Policemen are visiting the spot to check whether the voters shown as absent are actually not at the address or there is an error in the record.
During verification, such cases are also coming to light where voters are residing in Sambhal, but have been shown absent in the forms. These errors will be removed after completion of verification.
